My Collection

Just as the link suggests…

in here you find the records I have in my collection. But why do I collect records?

I’ve been collecting records for more than 30 years. It all started when I was 11 years old and got the album Human Racing by Nik Kershaw on vinyl as a present from my mom because I loved the song Wouldn’t It Be Good so much. Every now and then I was able to add another record to my collection, mostly rock music. At the end of the 80s/beginning of the 90s my taste changed to more alternative types of music, especially punk. That’s why by the time I was in my twenties I started collecting punk records.

And that could simply be the end of that story. However, it just so happened when some friends borrowed a few records from me and returned them scratched, that I decided I would switch my collection from vinyl to CD.

Much safer, right? What a clever idea!

So I sold my complete rock and a BIG part of my punk record collection. I kept on buying vinyl regularly but not at all as much as I did before. And I must have swapped vinyl for CDs that is now highly sought after. Wisely enough I kept some rare stuff, especially 7”s for their otherwise unreleased B-sides.

Around the late summer, early fall of 2012 I slowly started buying more and more vinyl again. More than CDs in any case and somehow I was bitten by the bug again. Since then I have been reacquiring a good part of my earlier collection along with a massive load of new releases.

And trust me, this time it’s to stay forever.
